Seattle paper artist, Karah Pino, Mandala, Art Nerd

Located in the Admiral District of West Seattle, Mind Unwind is a fun creative space that encourages community participation in the art making process. In addition to featuring the work of local artists, showing at present is Karah Pino’s inspiring mixed-media installation “The Sacred Shadow Self,” the gallery offers classes and events for adults and children that range from origami and painting, to filmmaking.

Artist-owner Krystal Kelley has recently collaborated with the historic Admiral Theater to organize three Movie and Art Series during which an exhibit is curated around the theme of the movie. The first night in the series will feature the film Jaws and the exhibition “Lost at Sea” by J. Conrad Nivens. The movies will be shown at the Admiral Theater in West Seattle, and tickets can be found at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/400337. Proceeds from the Movie and Art Series will go toward the renovation costs of the Admiral Theater and the Mind Unwind Foundation which supports arts in education.

Kelley is also currently working on her own project, a kids book called Splat (finds an answer), about a bird who poops out art. Check out her Kickstarter campaign to support her work: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2118452806/splat-finds-an-answer-a-book-for-all-ages
