There are only three days left to see Allyce Wood’s exquisite exhibition Latent Utility at the back of the cooperative and nonprofit SOIL Gallery.

Rarely has an artist’s name paired so well with that of her gallery and the subjects of her work. Following on the heels of such pieces as The Silent Divested at Cornish’s autumn 2012 show Old ghost ranges, sunken rivers, come again, Wood’s nine works on paper here teem with the beauty of floral and microbial abundance and dessication.

Kari Boeskov’s draped Echo of glassine and staples, part of the invitational show at the front of the gallery, is an apt greeting at the door, but it’s really Wood’s meticulously drafted pieces that have taken root in my memory.
